SGW Sneaker Drive at NewtonSERVES 2015 A Great Success

Students for a Greener World collected over 60 pairs of sneakers for recycling and reuse at Newton Serves on April 26. The sneakers that were collected outside of City Hall were bagged and taken to Nike’s outlet in Wrentham for recycling.  Sneakers in good condition were distributed to the Our Space Our Place (OSOP) after-school enrichment program for teens who are blind or visually impaired. The program includes sports, 5K races but some of the students didn’t have running shoes  ….now they do!   Other organizations also received wearable sneakers for distribution to individuals in need.  Thanks to our SGW volunteers and Sue Bottino, Schools Outreach, for coordinating this project — we hope to do it again for NewtonSERVES 2016!
